Derrick's journey in the field began as a dedicated social worker and discharge planner, where he was deeply moved by the limited housing options and substandard living conditions faced by individuals transitioning out of institutional care. This pivotal experience ignited his passion for change. In October 2018, Derrick launched his first Independent Living Facility®, a venture that marked the beginning of a transformative movement.
Today, Derrick's initiative, Second Chance Housing™—in collaboration with Forston Consultants, LLC—proudly operates numerous facilities across 35 states, each dedicated to offering a new lease on life to its residents.

Desiree is a seasoned professional in behavioral health and social work, currently serving as a Lead Targeted Case Manager at Chrysalis Health Center since 2018. Desiree graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 2012. Armed with her Bachelor of Science degree, she embarked on a fulfilling journey in social work.

Is there a refund policy in case I am unable to attend the 2024 Independent Living Facility® Conference after purchasing a ticket?
Tickets for the 2024 Independent Living Facility® Conference are non-refundable. However, we understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. If you are unable to attend, you can transfer your ticket to another person. Please notify us before the event with the details of the individual who will be attending in your place. Or you may use it as a credit for your future purchase under Forston Consultants.
